Oh well!

My album cover wasn't selected but as the winner I was hooked up with a spankin' new copy of Photoshop CS3 extended for being a finalist.

Suh-weeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeet!

One of my designs is a finalist in the KFOG charity album cover contest. The winner gets a $1000 and the entire Adobe design suite (all my designer friends and relatives know that's worth almost another couple g right there!)

So please hook me up and go check out the designs and vote for me (multiple times if you have the time!). Well, unless you don't think mine is the best of course. ;^)

Back in the US of Aye

So the magic day was May 26th this year; my lovely new wife Jen and I got hitched and then headed to Ixtapa, Mexico for the honeymoon. I will be posting some pics from the 'moon on here as well as links to the photo collection. I will also be posting the links to wedding photos, both our guests' and the pro photographers as those roll in.
Here is a shot of us on the plane just after we landed in Ixtapa. I got a few more shots off before the Federales asked me not to take pics on the tarmac...

Another resto photo

This is a resto of a tintype of my great-great grandmother, at least I think that's who this is. I'm sure my mom or one of my aunts can correct me.

This one was in terrible shape but I think I brought it back ok. You can't see it in this image but there was an amazing amount of crazing (cracks) in the skin on the hands and face. I lessened it somewhat but couldn't take it completely out without destroying the character of the face and hands. Still not bad.

I love this photo, as I worked on it I could definitely feel those eyes looking into me from across the gulf of years...

As usual please click on the image for a larger viewing size.

Family photo update...

As I get more restored I will upload them up to kodak or flicker so anyone who would like to can order prints. Once I get the album established I will post the link and forward it on to any relatives I think are interested.

Current Personal Project...

Operation Restoration. My mom and Aunt Linda have passed on some wonderful old family photos so I have taken it upon myself to try to bring them back to their former glory. Some of these are just amazing coming from WW1 and earlier; there were even a couple of tin types in the bunch. So I have been trying to get them scanned in but occasionally I'll get distracted by the possibilities and jump in and start repairing one in Photo Shop. This is the first one I have completely finished... but then again I am a Virgo perfectionist so I'm sure I'll get the urge to noodle with it again. This proud young gentleman is Bodie Williams; I'm thinking he was an uncle or 2nd cousin to my Grandmother Taylor (my mom's mother) on her mother's side

The first of many...

Sunrise on Chestnut

Not to sound totally cheesy but sometimes I just have to stop and admire the beauty of the world we're blessed to live in. Shot this one morning at the bus stop about 7am. I'm usually just happy to be awake then but occasionally I get the privelege to see a glorious sunrise peeking out over the skyline...

I suck at blogging...

Ummm. Yup, posting once every few months is obviously unacceptable blog-havior. I promise I will do better and get in at least a post a week! I have to give the PMOL props for posting at least every couple of days... I'm working some OT on Saturday to pay for the honeymoon in Ixtapa but I did take a cool SF picture last night so I thought I would share. Here y'all go:

How to sweep the grammys...

1. Use your concerts as a forum to be critical of foreign policy and alienate 90% of your conservative fan base and corporate controlled country-western radio support.
2. Record an album that none of the alienated fan base buys or the aforementioned corporate conservative country-western stations plays.
3. Have your lead singer dye her hair and wear a slimming dress for the performance of your "protest" song on the grammys
4. Come up on stage and accept your tokens of the hypocritical music industry's feel good pat itself on the back 'cause we all hate war let's live in peace kum bayah moment.
Congratulations Dixie Chicks, come on up here and take your place next Milli Vanilli and Jethro Tull in the Grammy Hall of Cluelessness!
